Genuine ethical brands are not perfect. Each one represents a unique example of the challenges and rewards of serving the interests, needs, and concerns of all stakeholders with dignity and respect. Our certification procedure is standardised for organisations in most industry sectors satisfying our Admission Policy and facilitated by our internal research team.
During this period, the personal insights, experiences, and values of eb™ members are distilled into a rating value. This is derived from a catalogue of ethical credentials assembled across six dimensions: value, quality, society, economy, environment, and governance. Nominated brands must achieve a threshold rating to receive eb™ certification, which reflects positive brand alignment with the interests, needs, and concerns of this community and humanity.
Each rating is subjected to an automated community review period and update following our receipt of a validated nomination, endorsement or challenge to a nomination. We do not accept submissions from non-members. The results of our research, procedures and analysis are transparent to those eb™ community members who have formally submitted, endorsed, or challenged a nomination, as well as those within a Sponsored group where at least one member of that group has interacted with a nomination in one of these ways.
